How much is LEGO worth?

Retired sets that are complete, with box and instructions, sell best. Loose mixed bricks sold by the pound usually go for a modest price per pound.

What to look for

Check what applies to yours:

• Sets that are no longer sold in stores (retired), especially large or licensed themes.
• Complete sets with all pieces, minifigures, instructions and the original box.
• Sealed, unopened boxes sell best of all.
• Minifigures alone can be worth more than you expect; check them separately.

Before you sell

• Compare with items that actually sold, not only with asking prices.
• Take clear photos in daylight: front, back, marks and any damage.
• Do not clean coins, and do not repaint or polish old items: it often lowers the value.
• For anything that might be valuable, get an opinion from a certified appraiser or a specialist dealer.
