What football cards are worth money?

Rookie cards of star players and graded cards are where the money is. Base cards of common players from the 1990s are plentiful and sell for very little.

What to look for

Check what applies to yours:

• Rookie cards of star players and Hall of Famers.
• Autographed cards and numbered parallels (a serial number printed on the card).
• Condition and grading: sharp corners, clean surface, good centering.

Before you sell

• Compare with items that actually sold, not only with asking prices.
• Take clear photos in daylight: front, back, marks and any damage.
• Do not clean coins, and do not repaint or polish old items: it often lowers the value.
• For anything that might be valuable, get an opinion from a certified appraiser or a specialist dealer.
